Disaster authorities in the Philippines report dozens of people are dead or missing after heavy rain from Tropical Storm Nalgae (known as Paeng in the Philippines) triggered flooding and landslides.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported a total of 379 incidents of flooding and 60 landslides across the country as a result of heavy rain brought by Tropical Storm Nalgae. The provinces of Camarines Sur, Capiz, Antique, Negros Occidental, Cebu, Southern Leyte and Maguindanao del Norte have been particularly badly affected.
A total of 116 incidents of floods were reported in Bicol Region (Region 5), mostly in Camarines Sur Province. Meanwhile at least 2 flood-related fatalities and 173 incidents of flooding were reported in the provinces of Capiz, Antique, Negros Occidental and Iloilo in Western Visayas region (Region 6). NDRRMC also reported 2 fatalities as a result of flooding in the Province of Sultan Kudarat, Soccsksargen Region (Region 12).
The heavy rainfall triggered a total of 60 landslides across the country, may of them in Cebu Province in Central Visayas Region (Region 7) and Southern Leyte in Eastern Visayas region (Region 8).
By far the most destructive of the flooding and landslides occurred in Maguindanao del Norte Province in Bangsamoro Region (BARMM). Authorities reported a total of 34 confirmed fatalities, with 6 more unconfirmed and reports of several people still missing. Search and rescue operation are ongoing in the area.
Dozens of homes have been completely destroyed under landslides or washed away by floods in the municipalities of Upi, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Datu Blah T. Sinsuat and Sultan Sumagka. The Tapian Bridge in Datu Blah T. Sinsuat municipality was also reportedly destroyed.
NDRRMC said over 40,000 people were pre-emptively evacuated before the storm hit. As of 30 October, a total of 364,746 people were displaced across the country, with many staying in 2,125 evacuation camps. The storm has impacted the lives of 932,077 across 46 provinces in 14 regions, NDRRMC said.
As of 30 October, 37 fatalities had been confirmed and a further 11 reports were awaiting validation. Four people were confirmed missing and reports of 18 others missing were awaiting validation.
