Widespread Floods Across Indonesia

Floods have struck in various regions of Indonesia on Borneo, Sulawesi and Sumatra . The areas suffering are widespread and include the Indonesian provinces of East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Gorontalo and Aceh.

The floods were a result of continued heavy rainfall. Over 20,000 people have been affected by the flooding. The worst affected areas was Nagan Raya District, Aceh Province, where 1,000 houses were destroyed, affecting around 3,500 families.

Penajam Paser Utara District in East Kalimantan saw floods affecting 267 families. Sekadau District in West Kalimantan suffered flooding where 718 families were affected. 160 families were affected after floods in Bone Bolango District of Gorontalo Province.

No fatalities have been reported in any of the regions affected so far.
