Days of heavy rain and severe flooding in several areas of Mozambique has left 11 dead and hundreds homeless.
The worst affected areas are Nhamatanda, Buzi and Chibabava districts in Sofala province, and Sussundenga district in Manica province. Many of the poorer areas of the city of Beira are also suffering from flooding after the heavy rain, mostly as a result of poor drainange. Waterborne disease and contaminated drinking water are causing severe problems for many communities.

Levels of several rivers, including the Lucite, Buzi and Save, are all dangerously high. A Tropical Depression has formed off the coast of Mozambique and i slikley to bring further heavy rainfall in the region over the next 2 days.
