More unusually severe weather in the Gulf region left parts of Dubai and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates under water.
Heavy rain fell overnight on Tuesday 25 March and into the early morning of Wednesday 26 March. Roads in the two emirates were inundated and there have been a number of road accidents reported as a result of the flooding. Some roads have been blocked or closed, either by flood water or traffic accidents. One of the worst affected roads is the Shaikh Zayed Road from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.

The severe weather has also brought sand storms as well as heavy rain. Local police have warned drivers to take precautions and not to drive through flood water or where visibility is low.
