Disaster authorities in Indonesia report that flash floods hit five districts of Bone Bolango Regency in Gorontalo Province on 11 June.
Hours of heavy rainfall caused the Taludaa River to break its banks and triggered flooding in Sawawa, Sawawa Tengah, South Sawawa and Botu Pingge districts. Flood waters reached 1.5 metres in some areas.
According to Indonesia’s National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB), 3 people have been injured, 5,407 affected. Floods have damaged or destroyed 1,479 houses, with around 600 families displaced. Flooding also damaged or destroyed 3 bridges in the area.
